Late-Míng Confucian-physician of Xīnān 新安 (Huīzhōu, Ānhuī). Active in the Chóngzhēn era as a physician and editor; the principal contemporary description (in Jīn Shēng’s preface to the Wàitái mìyào recut) characterises him as chún rú 醇儒 (“a pure Confucian”) who is also penetrating in medicine, with painstakingly thorough clinical examinations of even the poorest patients. His principal editorial achievement is the 1640 Xīnān recutting of Wáng Tāo’s KR3er091 Wàitái mìyào 外臺秘要 in 40 juǎn, undertaken over ten years and published with the patronage of the regional military governor Zhāng Tiānlù. He followed this with a recutting of the Shèngjì zǒnglù 聖濟總錄. He is best known by his zì Jìngtōng 敬通.
