Zhú Lǜyàn 竺律炎 (also written 竺將炎 Zhú Jiāngyàn, 竺持炎 Zhú Chíyàn; DILA Authority A000764) was a third-century Indian monk active at the Wú 吳 court. According to the Chū sānzàng jì jí 出三藏記集 (T2145) and the Gāosēng zhuàn 高僧傳 (T2059), he was learned both in Indic and “outer” learning, with a strict observance of monastic conduct. He arrived in Wǔchāng 武昌 in Huángwǔ 黃武 3 (224 CE) together with the Indic-language master Wéizhǐnán 維祇難, bringing the Sanskrit text of the Dharmapada and translating it (with Wéizhǐnán) as the Tánbō jīng 曇鉢經 / Fǎjù jīng 法句經 (T210). After Wéizhǐnán’s death he continued translation work — in Huánglóng 黃龍 2 (234) with 支謙 (Zhī Qiān) producing the Mātaṅga-sūtra (T1300, Módēngjiā jīng 摩登伽經) and the Fó-yī jīng 佛醫經 — and produced his own independent translations, including the [[KR6a0131|Sānmójié jīng 三摩竭經]] (T129). His exact dates of birth and death are unrecorded.
