絕海中津

Zekkai Chūshin 絕海中津 (1336–1405), Japanese Muromachi-period Zen monk of the Rinzai 臨濟 lineage, member of the Gozan 五山 literary circle. He travelled to Míng China (1368–1378), where he met Míng Tàizǔ and other Chinese monastic figures including 一如 Yīrú. The preface to Yīrú’s Fǎhuá jīng kēzhù (KR6d0073) records their poetic exchanges during the Ōei era (1394–1428) Japanese embassy contacts.
