Early-Qīng Tiāntái-school monk and ascetic copyist; lifedates not preserved. Self-styled Gǔ-Wú Shēn-qī 古吳深栖 (“the recluse from old Wú”), with the religious style 聲碧 Shēng-bì. According to the prefatory matter of his Shè-lì chàn-fǎ 舍利懺法 (KR6k0201, X1490), he was tonsured in his youth, and from the spring of 1705 (乙酉) secluded himself on Mount Tiāntái 天台 to copy the Huá-yán 華嚴, Fǎ-huá 法華 and Lèng-yán 楞嚴 sūtras in his own blood. While writing the Shí-xìn 十信 chapter of the Huá-yán, śarīra (relics) appeared at the tip of his brush; this experience and a subsequent forty-nine-day altar service held at Fú-guó jīng-shè 福國精舍 in Hán-jiāng 邗江 (Yáng-zhōu) in 1718 gave rise to his composition of the Shè-lì chàn-fǎ, his only surviving work. The DILA Buddhist Person Authority assigns him the id A001933.
