Shōson 聖尊, Tendai shōmyō teacher of the Ōhara Raigō-in liturgical-music lineage in the Kamakura / Nanboku-chō period. Precise lifedates are not securely attested in modern reference works; the Shōmyō kuden KR6t0428 is conventionally dated c. 1200–1400. The work is one of the principal documentary records of the textualization of the oral tradition that occurred in the late-medieval shōmyō lineages as senior teachers wrote down material previously transmitted only orally.
