Wén 聞
Late-Míng Chán monk; disciple of Wúniàn Shēnyǒu 無念深有 (1544–1627) at Huángbòshān 黃蘗山. Lifedates, native place, and full monastic name all unrecorded. Identified in the Kanripo catalog for the Huángbò Wúniàn chánshī fù wèn KR6q0186 by the single character 聞 as shān dìng 刪定 (“culling and fixing”) editor of the text — presumably the full monastic name, or an abbreviation thereof, would have been legible in a fuller preserved form of the colophon. The present person-note is a placeholder pending identification of his full name.
