Xún Yuè 荀悅 (148–209), Zhòngyù 仲豫, was a late-Eastern-Hàn classicist of Yǐngyīn 潁陰 (Yǐngchuān 潁川). Nephew of Xún Shuǎng 荀爽 (128–190) and cousin of Xún Yù 荀彧 (163–212), he served Xiàndì 獻帝 (r. 189–220) as Palace Attendant Lecturer (shìjiǎng 侍講). His biography is Hòu Hàn shū j. 62 (荀韓鍾陳列傳). According to the Hòu Hàn shū, observing power passing into Cáo hands and finding his counsel disregarded, he composed the Shēn jiàn 申鑒 in five 篇 (KR3a0011) and presented it to the throne. He is also the author of the major work of late-Eastern-Hàn historiography, the Hàn jì 漢紀 in thirty juan, a chronologically-arranged condensation of the Hàn shū commissioned by Xiàndì in Jiàn’ān 3 (198) and completed in 200.
