Xuē Huáiyì 薛懷義 (formerly Féng Xiǎobǎo 馮小寶; d. 695), favourite of Empress 武則天 Wǔ Zétiān. He was placed in charge of the Báimǎ sì 白馬寺 in Luòyáng and was a key figure in the Buddhist propaganda programme that legitimized Wǔ Zétiān’s imperial reign, including the production and re-edition of [[KR6i0298|Bǎoyǔ jīng (T660)]] in 693, into which a prophecy of a female cakravartin was interpolated. He was executed in 695 after falling from imperial favour.
