Xuē Qǐfèng 薛起鳳

Mid-Qīng Sūzhōu literatus, contemporary of 彭紹升 Péng Shàoshēng (1740–1796). Composed the Wénxīnggé jiàn fàngshēng huì shū 文星閣建放生會疏 (“Proclamation on founding the Wénxīnggé Animal-Release Assembly”), a classical-prose document preserved in Péng’s Tǐrén yàoshù 體仁要術 (KR6k0263, X1139). Xuē’s shū drew on Yìjīng cosmogony and the Lùnyǔ “heaven gives life and the sage completes its capacity” topos to ground the lay-Buddhist fàngshēng practice cosmologically.
