Late-Tang Esoteric Buddhist (Tángmì 唐密) master, fl. 880s–890s; ordained as Sān-zàng shā-mén 三藏沙門 (“Tripiṭaka monk”) at Dà-ān-guó-sì 大安國寺 (“Great State-Pacification Monastery”) in the Tang capital Shàng-dū 上都 (Cháng-ān 長安); honored with the imperial-bestowed monastic title Chuán mì-jiào Chāo-wù dà-shī 傳密教超悟大師 (“Esoteric Teaching Transmitting Master of Surpassing Awakening”) and the zǐ 紫 (purple-robe, cì zǐ 賜紫) imperial honor.
Compiler (集 jí) of the Shì-jiào zuì-shàng-chéng mì-mì-zàng tuó-luó-ní jí 釋教最上乘秘密藏陀羅尼集 KR6j0762 (F28n1071, H068n1619) — a 30-fascicle systematic anthology of dhāraṇīs organized by deity-class, completed in the cyclical year wù-wǔ 戊午 of Qián-níng 5 of the Great Tang = 898 CE. The work survives only in the Fáng-shān 房山 stone-sutra inscriptions at Yún-jū-sì 雲居寺 (Hebei) and is the principal witness to the institutional survival of Esoteric Buddhism at Cháng-ān after the Huì-chāng persecution of 845.
