Yuán Jùnwēng 袁俊翁 (fl. mid-14th century)
Zì Mǐnzhāi 敏齋. Native of Yuánzhōu 袁州 (modern Yíchūn 宜春, Jiāngxī). The graphic variant 雋翁 in Lí Lìwǔ’s preface to KR1h0036 is a transmitted-character difference for the same name. Lifedates not securely recorded; he was active during the late Yuan, ca. 1330s–1350s.
The Sìkù tíyào at KR1h0036 reports: prefaces to his work are by Lí Lìwǔ (黎立武, who was older and locally based), Lǐ Yìngxīng 李應星, and Péng Yuánlóng 彭元龍. Lí Lìwǔ’s preface speaks of him as having “yǐ chóngwú băng 以重吾榜” (graced our examination roster); Lǐ Yìngxīng’s preface speaks of his “yìyì kuíwén 奕奕魁文” (eminent first-rank composition) — confirming that Yuán Jùnwēng had taken first place in the local xiāngshì 鄉試 (provincial examination) preliminary. His subsequent career is otherwise undocumented.
His work Sìshū yíjié 四書疑節 (KR1h0036) survives as one section (the Sìshū jīngyí 四書經疑 portion) of a larger lost work, the Dàiwèn jí 待問集 (“Collection of Pending-Question essays”) — the “jīngshǐ yíyì” 經史疑義 section being already lost. The discrepancy between section-titles and external prefaces in the surviving manuscript reflects this partial-transmission history.
