Xiè Méng 解蒙, zì Qiúwǒ 求我, was a Yuán-dynasty Yìjīng scholar from Jíshuǐ 吉水 (Jí’ān 吉安, Jiāngxī 江西). The Jiāngxī tōngzhì 江西通志 spells his zì as Láiwǒ 來我, but the Sìkù editors regard this as a graphic confusion with Qiúwǒ 求我 (the characters 求 and 來 being similar in form). He sat the Jiāngxī provincial examination in tiānlì yǐsì 天厯乙巳 (1329) together with his elder brother’s son Xiè Zǐshàng 解子尚 (zì Guānwǒ 觀我); the two were jointly known at the time as adept Yìjīng commentators. Xiè Zǐshàng’s own Zhōuyì yìyí tōngshì 周易義疑通釋 was already lost by the early Qīng. Xiè Méng’s Yì jīngyùn dàyì 易精蘊大義 (KR1a0084) was likewise listed as lost in Zhū Yízūn’s 朱彝尊 Jīngyì kǎo 經義考, but was substantially recovered by the Sìkù editors from the Yǒnglè dàdiǎn 永樂大典 (only seven hexagrams — Yù 豫, Suí 隨, Wúwàng 无妄, Dàzhuàng 大壯, Kuí 睽, Jiǎn 蹇, Zhōngfú 中孚 — and the last four lines of Jìn 晉 are missing).
The work’s title is variably reported. Xiè Jìn’s 解縉 Chūnyǔ táng jí 春雨堂集 calls it Yìjīng jīngyì 易經精義; Zhū Yízūn’s Jīngyì kǎo calls it Zhōuyì jīngyùn 周易精蘊; the Yǒnglè dàdiǎn itself ascribes it to Xiè Méng under the title Zhōuyì jīngyùn dàyì 周易精蘊大義. The Sìkù editors take the Dàdiǎn form as authoritative.
