Xǔ Xiàngqīng 許相卿 (1479–1557), Bótái 伯台, hào Yúncūn 雲村, of Hǎiníng 海寧 (Zhèjiāng). Took the jìnshì in Zhèngdé 12 (1517). Held office briefly but retired early to his hometown around the time of the Dàlǐyì 大禮議 (Great Rites Controversy, 1524), in which he was one of the memorialists opposed to the Jiājìng emperor’s elevation of his natural father. His subsequent four decades of life were spent in retreat. He is the author of the ShǐHàn fāngjià 史漢方駕 (a juxtaposed reading-aid for the Shǐjì and Hànshū) and of the literary collection Yúncūn jí KR4e0176 — the latter his own self-selected redaction. The Sìkù tíyào portrays him as a dǔshí jūnzǐ whose post-retirement letters show enduring concern for the state.
