Southern-Sòng 南宋 Daoist scholar-hagiographer, 1134–1212 (CBDB 52414). Author of a coordinated trilogy of works on the Lǎojūn / Tài shàng Lǎo jūn 太上老君 hagiographic tradition — one of the most systematic late-Southern-Sòng treatments of the Daoist divinised-Lǎozǐ tradition.
Works (the Lǎojūn trilogy):
- Hùn yuán shèng jì 混元聖紀 (DZ 770, 1193, 9 juàn) — the comprehensive chronicle of Lǎojūn’s cosmic origin and successive manifestations.
- Tài shàng Lǎo jūn nián pǔ yào lüè 太上老君年譜要略 (DZ 771) — the summary chronological table.
- Tài shàng hùn yuán Lǎo zǐ shǐ lüè 太上混元老子史略 (DZ 773) — the summary history.
The three works together constitute a comprehensive hagiographic apparatus for the Daoist Lǎojūn tradition.
Dating. 1134–1212. Active principally in the late-Southern-Sòng period, contemporary with Zhū Xī (1130–1200) and the broader Southern-Sòng intellectual landscape.
