Late-Míng bibliophile, bibliographer, and book collector; zì Yuándù 元度, hào Qīngcháng dàorén 清常道人, of Chángshú 常熟. Lifedates 1563–1624 (CBDB). Son of Zhào Yòngxián 趙用賢 (1535–1596) and inheritor of the great Zhào-family library at Màiwàngguǎn 脈望館; the family library was one of the most important late-Míng bibliographic collections in Jiāngnán. Held office through Tàibǔsì cèng and Cìbù lángzhōng. Author and compiler of bibliographic, dramatic and connoisseurial works, including the Màiwàngguǎn shūmù 脈望館書目, the Màiwàngguǎn chāojiào běn gǔjīn zázhōu (a major collection of Yuán dramas), and — as the Sìkù editors demonstrated — the KR3h0045 Zhàoshì tiěwǎng shānhú 趙氏鐵網珊瑚 (a 16-juàn compilation of inscriptions and colophons on calligraphies and paintings, traditionally mis-attributed to 朱存理 but in fact compiled by Zhào from an anonymous Wú-school manuscript expanded with material from Jiāo Hóng 焦竑 and from his own viewing).
