Zōu Xuàn 鄒鉉 (fl. Dàdé 大德 reign, 1297–1307), hào Bīnghè 冰壑 and Jìngzhí lǎorén 敬直老人, Yuán-period Tàiníng 泰寧 (Fújiàn) scholar and the editor who supplemented Chén Zhí’s Yǎnglǎo fèngqīn shū into the four-juan Shòuqīn yǎnglǎo xīn shū 壽親養老新書 (KR3e0021). His great-grandfather (称曾祖) was 鄒應龍 Zōu Yìnglóng (Sòng Cānzhīzhèngshì 參知政事, hào Nángǔ 南谷); his great-uncle ([叔祖]) was Zōu Yìngbó 鄒應博 (Sòng Jiāngxī Tíxíng 提刑, hào Pǔān 樸庵), both of whom held office under the Southern Sòng. Zhōu Yìngzǐ 周應紫’s preface refers to Zōu as Zǒngguǎn 總管 (Director-General) and notes his time at the Yuán Zhōngdū 中都 (modern Běijīng), so he served briefly under the Yuán; the Fújiàn tōngzhì does not record details. In his elder years he supplemented Chén Zhí’s text with: (a) seventy-two examples of “ancient and modern fine words and good deeds” of elderly scholars (古今嘉言善行七十二事); (b) detailed expositions of bedding, clothing, vessels, and porridges-and-medicines suitable for the elderly; (c) prescriptions for women and children appended for completeness — totalling 256 additional entries.
