Modern Chinese Theravāda specialist, professor at the Buddhist Academy of China (中國佛學院). Studied Sinhalese and Pali in Sri Lanka in the 1980s. Foremost late-20th-century Chinese translator working from Sinhalese-printed Pali sources; produced Chinese versions of Khuddakapāṭha KR6v0057, Udāna KR6v0058, Mahā-Ummagga Jātaka KR6v0059, Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna-sutta KR6v0060 (with 趙桐), and several other canonical Pali texts, all included in Zàngwài fójiào wénxiàn vol. 5. Also author of the Fódà de qián-shēng 佛陀的前生 (Beijing: Fǎ-yīn wén-kù, 1993), a Jātaka anthology in modern Chinese.
