錢弘俶

Qián Hóngchù (Qián Chù 錢俶, 929–988)

The fifth and last ruler of Wú-Yuè 吳越 (r. 947–978), and one of the most important Buddhist royal patrons of the Five Dynasties / early Sòng transition. His mission to Goryeo in 960–962 recovered substantial portions of the Tiāntái scholastic corpus — including Dìguān’s 諦觀 (諦觀) Tiāntái sìjiào yí (KR6d0168) — which had been substantially lost during the Táng collapse, and made possible the Sòng Tiāntái revival under Sìmíng Zhīlǐ (知禮) and others.
