Zhōng Lù 鍾輅 (fl. Tàihé / Dàhé 太和 reign-period, 827–835), mid-Táng minor official and compiler of the Qiándìng lù 前定錄 KR3l0107. He held office as Editor at the Chóngwén Studio (Chóngwén guǎn jiàoshūláng 崇文館校書郎) during Wénzōng’s 文宗 Tàihé reign — a junior position at the Imperial Academy responsible for editorial proofing of court-archived texts; this is the only office attested for him. The author’s preface to the Qiándìng lù, which is dated to the Tàihé period, states that he assembled the book during his time at the studio: “During the Tàihé period, while I was on editorial assignment at the Spring-Pavilion (Chūngé 春閣), and my official duties were light, I had much leisure; from time to time I followed widely-read elder gentlemen and solicited from them strange-affair tales — and whenever the matter touched on qiándìng (preordination), I would invariably go over it three times from beginning to end, take up the brush and note it down.” His name appears in the Xīn Táng shū Yìwén zhì in the alternative graph 鍾簵 (the Sìkù compilers were unable to decide which form is correct). No birth or death dates are recorded; CBDB id 94086 has him in BIOG_MAIN without dates. No other writings under his name survive.
