Late-Míng publisher and connoisseur of Wūchéng 烏程 (modern Húzhōu, Zhèjiāng), Jíwǔ 及武, hào Yùwǔ 寓五. He is the principal innovator of the zhū-mò tàoyìn 朱墨套印 (“red-and-black colour-printing”) technique in the late Wànlì and Tiānqǐ eras: multicolour woodblock printing applied to philological-critical editions of classical texts. His red-and-black-ink reprint of 蘇軾 Sū Shì’s Dōngpō Yìzhuàn (KR1a0015) is the principal late-Míng exemplum of his aesthetic-but-uncritical editorial method, judged by the Sìkù editors as “presentation rather elegant but no actual collation.”
