Chén Yí 陳儀 (1670–1742), zì Zǐhuì 子翽, hào Yīwú 一吾, of Wénān 文安 (Bǎodìng, Zhílì), was a Kāngxī 54 (1715) jìnshì who rose to Hànlínyuàn shìjiǎng xuéshì (Reading-in-Waiting at the Hànlín Academy). In Yōngzhèng 4 (1726) he was appointed Bàzhōu děngchù yíngtián guāncháshǐ (Inspector for Military-Agricultural Reclamation in Bàzhōu et al.) — the principal field-directing official of the Yōngzhèng-era yíngtián hydraulic-and-agricultural reclamation program in Héběi. The administrative direction of the program belonged to the Yīqīnwáng Yǔnxiáng 怡親王允祥. Chén’s principal monograph from this office is the Zhílì héqú zhì (KR2k0077) in 1 juan, the principal early-Qīng documentary record of the Hé-běi-plain river-and-canal network. CBDB id 58821 confirms 1670–1742.
