Chén Shūdá 陳叔達

Zǐcōng 子聰. Native of the Chén imperial line, son of Chén Xuāndì 陳宣帝 and younger brother of Chén Hòuzhǔ 陳後主. Born under the Chén; entered Tang service after the Suí-Tang transition. Died 635.

Held Lǐbù shàngshū 禮部尚書 and Mínbù shàngshū 民部尚書 under Tang Gāozǔ and Tàizōng. Notable for his liberal patronage of literary figures and as one of the principal Tang court drafters of imperial documents. As an early-Tang historiographer, he was one of the five compilers of the Zhōu shū (KR2a0022) under Lìnghú Détén’s chief editorship.
