Yuán-period 元 Shàngshū sub-commentator. Native of Pénglí 彭蠡 — i.e., the Pénglí Lake region (modern Lake Poyang 鄱陽湖) in Jiāngxī. Signs himself “Dōng huì zé” 東滙澤 (“Eastern Confluence Marsh”) in self-attribution. Lifedates and detailed career are unrecorded; CBDB id 27572 has only an index year of 1291. The Sìkù tíyào states explicitly that “the beginning and end of his career cannot be ascertained.” His one surviving work, the Shū Càizhuàn pángtōng 書蔡傳旁通 (KR1b0031) in 6 juǎn, is precisely dated by his autograph preface to Zhìzhì 1 / 1321 (至治辛酉). Geographic and intellectual proximity to 董鼎 of Póyáng (KR1b0029) — both Lake-Pénglí region scholars — is presumably not coincidental: Chén Shīkǎi’s preface explicitly positions the Pángtōng as a beginner-oriented complement to Dǒng Dǐng’s more advanced Shū zhuàn jí lù zuǎn zhù.
