Chén Màorén 陳懋仁, zì Wúgōng 無功, of Jiāxīng 嘉興 (Zhèjiāng). Late-Míng scholar and bibliographic editor active in the Wànlì 萬曆 (1573–1620) and Tiānqǐ 天啟 (1621–1627) eras; precise lifedates not recorded. Held office as zhōupàn 州判 of Quánzhōu 泉州 (Fújiàn). Best known as a productive commentator and miscellaneous compiler: his Quánnán zázhì 泉南雜志 (records of Quánzhōu) is preserved in several Míng cóngshū; he annotated Rèn Fǎng’s 任昉 Wénzhāng yuánqǐ KR4i0004 — the annotations marked zhù 註 (as distinct from the bǔzhù 補注 added later by Fāng Xióng 方熊 of the Qing); and he produced a handful of small philological notes on early cí and HànWèi fù. CBDB records him at id 565556 without biographical detail. The relevant standard Míng biographical compilations (Tán Qiān 譚遷’s Guóquè, the Míngshǐ Yìwénzhì) preserve only this thin layer of office and locality.
