Chén Chún 陳淳 (1159–1223), Ānqīng 安卿, hào Běixī xiānsheng 北溪先生, was one of the most important first-generation post-Zhū-Xī disciples and the author of the canonical Sòng Lǐxué terminological lexicon. Native of Lóngxī 龍溪 (Zhāngzhōu 漳州, Fújiàn). Studied directly with Zhū Xī in his late years (1190 and 1199 visits to Zhū’s residence). Awarded Dígōng láng 廸功郎 in Jiādìng 10 (1217) with assignment as Quánzhōu Ānxī Zhǔbù 泉州安溪主簿; died before taking up the post. Major works: the Běixī zì yì 北溪字義 (KR3a0065 — the standard Lǐxué terminological lexicon, recorded by his disciple Wáng Jùn 王雋); the Běixī Dàquán jí 北溪大全集 (the collected works); the Yánlíng jiǎngyì 嚴陵講義 (his Yánlíng / Jiàndé lectures of 1216, appended to the Zì yì).
