Yúnchá Wàishǐ 雲槎外史 is the pen name used in the authorship of Hónglóumèng Yǐng 紅樓夢影, traditionally identified with Gù Tàiqīng 顧太清 (also known as Gù Chūn 顧春, pen name Xīlín Chūn 西林春; 1799–c. 1876). Gù Tàiqīng was a Manchu-banner poetess of the Xīlín Gioro 西林覺羅 clan, wife of the imperial prince Yì Huì 奕繪 (Tài Qīnwáng 太清王), and the most celebrated female poet of the late Qīng dynasty. Born in 1799, she was widowed in 1838 and thereafter lived in reduced circumstances, having been compelled to leave the princely residence. Her cí 詞 poetry collection Tiānyóugé Cí 天游閣詞 is a landmark in Qīng women’s poetry. CBDB id 521382 returns no dates; birth and death dates follow standard biographical sources.
The attribution of Hónglóumèng Yǐng to Gù Tàiqīng rests on stylistic evidence and the literary resonance between the novel and her verse; it was not disclosed in the first published edition (Guāngxù 3 / 1877). Modern scholarship broadly accepts the attribution.
