Hán Fēi 韓非 (c. 280 – 233 BCE) was the great systematizer of Warring-States Legalism (Fǎ jiā 法家), synthesizing Shāng Yāng’s 商鞅 emphasis on law (fǎ 法), Shēn Dào’s 慎到 emphasis on position (shì 勢), and Shēn Bù hài’s 申不害 emphasis on statecraft (shù 術). Prince of Hán 韓, student of Xún zǐ 荀子, died at the Qín court in 233 under pressure from his jealous former schoolfellow Lǐ Sī 李斯. Eponymous author of the Hán fēi zǐ 韓非子 (KR5f0011), one of the foundational texts of Chinese political theory.
