Mǎ Sù 馬驌 (1621–1673), zì Cōngyù 驄御, also zì Wǎnsī 宛斯, native of Zōupíng 鄒平 (Shāndōng 山東). 順治 jǐhài (1659) jìnshì; he served as judicial commissioner (推官) of Huái’ān 淮安 prefecture and ended his career as magistrate of Língbì 靈璧 county. He was nicknamed Mǎ Sāndài 馬三代 (“Three-Dynasties Mǎ”) for his command of the high-antiquity literature, especially the Zuǒ zhuàn 左傳 and the materials on the Three Dynasties. Wáng Shìzhēn 王士禎 in his Chí běi ǒu tán 池北偶談 praises him as 博雅嗜古, especially in Zuǒshì studies. The catalog gives 1620–1673 but CBDB and Wilkinson (Chinese History: A New Manual, p. 706) give the birth year as 1621, followed here. His major works in the Kanripo corpus are Zuǒ zhuàn shì wěi 左傳事緯 (KR1e0101) and the antiquity-period compilation Yì shǐ 繹史 (in KR2 division).
