Nephew (cóngzǐ) of Féng Bān 馮班 (hào Dùnyín 鈍吟, 1602–1671) — one of the most distinguished early-Qīng calligraphers in the Yúshān-school orbit of the Qián Qiānyì 錢謙益 circle — from whom he received his entire calligraphic training.
