Bào Biāo 鮑彪 (fl. mid-12th c.), Wénhǔ 文虎, was a Southern-Sòng scholar from Jìnyún 縉雲 in the Lóngquán 龍泉 area of Chùzhōu 處州 (modern Zhèjiāng). The Sìkù editors infer his from the citations of his remarks under the rubric “Bào Wénhǔ shuō” 鮑文虎說 in Huáng Hè 黃鶴’s Dù shī bǔzhù 杜詩補注 and Guō Zhīdá 郭知達’s Jí zhù jiǔ jiā Dù shī 集注九家杜詩. He held office as a Director (shàngshū láng 尚書郎). His one substantial scholarly work is the Bào shì Zhànguó cè zhù 鮑氏戰國策注 KR2e0004, a complete re-annotation and chronological rearrangement of the KR2e0003 Zhànguó cè completed in 1147 (Shàoxīng 17). Although the Yuán scholar 吳師道 (in his Bǔzhèng KR2e0005) and the Sòng-period Zhào Yǔshí 趙與時 (in the Bīntuì lù) both criticized Bào Biāo’s handling of the Eastern and Western Zhōu chapters, his recension stands as the earliest sustained Sòng-Confucian historicization of the late–Warring-States intriguers’ speeches, and his commentary remained the working base for all subsequent annotated Zhànguó cè editions through the Yuán and Míng. His birth and death years are not preserved.
