Zhōuyì Qián záo dù 周易乾鑿度
The Chiseled Way of the Qián [Hexagram] of the Zhōuyì nominally by 鄭玄 (註)
About the work
The fourth of the eight Yì wěi 易緯 texts gathered as appendix to the Yì-class of the Sìkù quánshū; see KR1a0163 for the broader contextualization. The Zhōuyì Qián záo dù is the Qián-hexagram half of the Qián Kūn záo dù (KR1a0163) cycle and is preserved here in its independent two-juàn recension. The pairing of the two halves (Qián záo dù + Kūn záo dù) was conventional in the medieval transmission; the Sìkù preserves both as separate cataloged entries while noting their shared genre.
Tiyao
See KR1a0163 for the joint contextualization. The Sìkù tíyào *of the Qián záo dù separately notes that this text was the more widely transmitted of the two záo dù halves, with separate editions circulating throughout the medieval period.
Abstract
The work is the Qián counterpart to the Kūn záo dù portion of KR1a0163. As with the broader Yì wěi corpus, the substantive content concerns Hàn-period (or post-Hàn-but-medieval) divinatory-cosmographic apparatus; the Zhèng Xuán-commentary attribution is conventional and not secure.
