Yīn pǔ 音譜
A Phonological Compendium by 李概 (撰)
About the work
A modern reconstruction of 李概 Lǐ Gài’s lost Yīn pǔ 音譜 — one of several brief Northern-Qí 北齊 rhyme-books circulating in the immediate pre-Qièyùn generation. Suí shū jīngjí zhì 隋書‧經籍志 records the work in four juàn. It was lost in the Sòng; the CHANT reconstruction (CH2f1225) draws principally from Shì Xuányìng 釋元應’s Yīqièjīng yīnyì 一切經音義, the Guǎngyùn 廣韻, and Lù Démíng’s Jīngdiǎn shìwén.
Abstract
The Yīn pǔ is a Northern-Qí phonological compendium in the Shēng lèi / Yùn jí lineage — a relatively brief work (four juàn) contributing to the development of the rhyme-book tradition that immediately precedes the Suí Qièyùn (601).
Representative entries: chù 憷 = “tòng yě 痛也, pain”; jié 䠨 = “mǎ jí-xíng 馬急行, a horse moving in haste”; another graph (rendered 𩅼) = “yǐ wù nà shuǐ-zhōng 以物內水中, to immerse an object in water.” These are short paraphrastic glosses without explicit fǎn-qiè spellings preserved in the fragment-sample.
The Northern-Qí rhyme-book cluster (KR1j0112 Yīn pǔ of Lǐ Gài, KR1j0113 Yùn lüè of 陽休之 Yáng Xiūzhī) represents the northern parallel to the southern Liáng xiǎoxué phonological work of Gù Yěwáng. The convergence of these northern and southern Six-Dynasties rhyme traditions in the Lù Fǎyán Qièyùn conference (Rénshòu 1, 601) is the structural moment that produces the Suí-Táng standard.
Dating bracket (550–577): Northern-Qí span; no firmer internal evidence.
