About the work
An 8-juan Late-Míng comprehensive Lower-Yangzi-defence treatise by Zhèng Ruòzēng, drawing on his extensive wōkòu-defence experience under Hú Zōngxiàn. The work covers the complete Lower-Yangzi region with detailed treatment of fortifications, communications, troop deployments, and naval defence. Composition: bracketed by Zhèng’s mature wōkòu-defence career (1560s–1570s). The frontmatter brackets to ca. 1560–1580.
Abstract
The Jiāngnán jīng lüè is one of the principal Late-Míng regional-defence treatises and the major scholarly work on Lower-Yangzi wōkòu defence. Companion to Zhèng’s Chóu hǎi tú biān. The bibliographic record: Míng shǐ yìwén zhì; SKQS Zǐbù — Bīngjiā lèi.
