About the work
The Gǔběn Nànjīng chǎnzhù is one of two complementary Qing-period Nànjīng commentaries by Dīng Jǐn 丁錦 (zì Lǚzhōng 履中, hào Dōngshān 東山, of Dāntú 丹徒 in Zhènjiāng 鎮江 fǔ, Jiāngsū) — the other is Nànjīng gǔyì 難經古義 (KR3ea057). The present work, in two juan, is structured as a commentary on the entire eighty-one nán of KR3ea054 Bāshíyī Nànjīng, organized after a “古本” (older / pre-Huá-Shòu) recension that Dīng claims is closer to the original division of nán than the popular YuánMíng 滑壽 Huá Shòu KR3ea060 Běnyì line. Dīng’s commentary is philologically careful: he restores text variants from the SòngYuán quotation tradition (especially the Lǚ Guǎng 呂廣 / Yáng Xuáncāo 楊玄操 readings cited via 王九思 Wáng Jiǔsī’s Jízhù) and resists late-Míng mìngmén speculation.

Abstract
Dating window 1729–1736: Dīng’s self-preface, preserved in the Qing block-print, is dated Yōngzhèng qī nián 雍正七年 = 1729; the first attested impression is the Qiánlóng yuán nián 乾隆元年 = 1736 printing held by the Nánjīng Library (南京圖書館). The work circulated in modest quantity in the Jiāngnán medical book trade through the late Qing but was not reprinted by the major Qing collections (the Sìkù quánshū excluded it). It survives chiefly in the Yītǒng zhèngmài quánshū 醫統正脈全書 and similar Qing-Republican compilations, on which the present jicheng.tw entry depends.
Dīng Jǐn’s prosopographic record is thin: he is not in CBDB (no match for 丁錦 by name). The standard biographical entries in Chén Bāngxián 陳邦賢, Zhōngguó yīxué rénmíngzhì 中國醫學人名志 (1955), and Lǐ Jīngwěi 李經緯 (ed.), Zhōngyī rénwù cídiǎn 中醫人物詞典 (Shànghǎi císhū, 1988), make him a fl. YōngzhèngQiánlóng Jiāngnán physician, of Dāntú native place, with the two Nànjīng works as his only surviving œuvre. The doctrinal stance is mildly conservative-philological: he prefers a textually grounded reading of each nán over the speculative correlations characteristic of the late-Míng mìngmén school (see KR3ea036 for the latter).
