The composition window 1200–1280 brackets the late Jīn and early Yuán activity of Liú’s school. Liú Hóng (note: the surname character 鎦 is a less-common form of 劉) is mentioned in the standard Jīn-Yuán medical bibliography but his exact biographical details are not preserved beyond his role as a Héjiān-school commentator. The work is preserved within the Héjiān liù shū 河間六書 corpus and is sometimes treated as supplementary to Liú Wánsù’s Shānghán biāoběn xīnfǎ lèicuì (KR3ef009).
