The principal late-Qīng / early-Republican critical-annotation edition of 葉桂 Yè Tiānshì’s Wēnrè lùn (KR3eg001). The base text is Yè’s foundational warm-disease treatise; the annotation (jiānzhèng 箋正 = “annotate-and-correct”) is by 陳光淞 Chén Guāngsōng, a late-Qīng physician active in the 1900s–1910s. The catalog meta lists only Yè as author, since the jiānzhèng genre conventionally subordinates the annotator’s identity to the base text; in this collection’s format the annotation is the principal new contribution.
Abstract
Chén Guāngsōng’s jiānzhèng is one of a cluster of late-Qīng / Republican critical-annotation editions of the Wēnrè lùn, a moment in which the doctrinal authority of the Wēnrè lùn had become canonical and the textual-critical work shifted toward establishing the most authentic version of Yè’s words. The principal textual issues addressed by Chén are: (a) the choice between the 唐大烈 Táng Dàliè Wúyī huìjiǎng recension and the 華岫雲 Huá Xiùyún Línzhèng zhǐnán yīàn recension; (b) the doctrinal weight of disputed passages on xiézàifèi 邪在肺 versus xiézàixīnbāo 邪在心包; (c) the relationship of the Wēnrè lùn to the parallel Sānshí zhǒng wàigǎn zhèng 三十種外感證 text also ascribed to Yè.
The work falls within the broader Shàoxīng-school late-Qīng / Republican wēnbìng editorial project, in which 何廉臣 Hé Liánchén and his circle systematically re-edited the canonical wēnbìng texts. Dating is approximate; the work probably appeared in the late 1900s or early 1910s.
