Xíng Shào Jí 邢邵集
Collected Works of Xing Shao by 邢邵 (撰)
About the work
The Xíng Shào Jí 邢邵集 is a two-juàn jíyìběn 輯佚本 (reconstructed anthology) compiled by Zhāng Pǔ 張溥 (1602–1641) for his Hànwèi liùcháo bǎisānjiā jí 漢魏六朝百三家集. The text is an extra-catalog reconstruction not included in the Sìkù quánshū 四庫全書. 卷一 begins at line 5 and 卷二 at line 332 of the source file (total 2824 lines).
The collection opens with the yuèfǔ 樂府 piece 〈思公子〉 (cited from Yuèfǔ shījí 74 and Shījì 詩紀 110), followed by court occasional verse including 〈三日華林園公宴〉 (a banquet poem), 〈冬夜酬魏少傅直史館〉 (an exchange poem with Wèi Shōu 魏收, confirming attribution via its title in Wényuàn yīnghuá), 〈冬日傷志篇〉, 〈七夕〉, 〈齊韋道遜晚春宴〉, and several imperial response-poems. The collection extends into official prose: the 〈新宮賦〉 (rhapsody on the new palace), an imperial accession edict 〈為文宣帝受禪登極赦詔〉, numerous ràng biǎo 讓表 (declining-appointment memorials) drafted for senior officials, a memorial 〈奏立明堂太學〉, and the 〈文宣帝諡議〉 (deliberation on the posthumous title of Emperor Wénxuān of the Northern Qí). The Wényuàn yīnghuá cites one poem explicitly as “《北齊邢子才詩》,” confirming attribution.

Abstract
Xíng Shào 邢邵 (496–ca. 564 CE), styled Zǐcái 子才, was one of the two dominant literary figures of the Northern Qí 北齊 dynasty, paired in reputation with Wèi Shōu 魏收 KR4b0075. Born in Hénán Wēnxiàn 河南溫縣, he served successively under the Eastern Wèi 東魏 and Northern Qí courts, reaching offices including 侍中 (Palace Attendant) and 國子祭酒 (Libationer of the Directorate of Education). His biography appears in Běiqíshū 北齊書 36 and Běishǐ 北史 43.
Xíng Shào’s literary reputation rested on the fluency and elegance of his parallel prose (piánwén 駢文) and his verse in the court style. He drafted numerous official documents for the Northern Qí court, including edicts and the memorial deliberating the posthumous title of Emperor Wénxuān 文宣帝 (Gāo Yáng 高洋, the dynasty’s founder). His verse exchange poem 〈冬夜酬魏少傅直史館〉 — composed in reply to Wèi Shōu during a night duty at the History Office — epitomizes the collegial literary culture of the Northern Qí court. The Lèizhuān lèi 類纂類 (as cited via Chūxué jì 初學記) preserves additional poems including 〈冬日傷志詩〉.
The original Xíng Shào jí was noted in bibliographic records but did not survive intact. Zhāng Pǔ’s reconstruction draws primarily on the Shījì (fascicle 110), the Wényuàn yīnghuá, the Chūxué jì, and Běiqíshū biographical citations. The inclusion of the 〈文宣帝諡議〉 and several imperial edicts gives the collection significant historical-document value alongside its literary content.
