Zēngkān jiàozhèng Wáng zhuàngyuán jízhù fēnlèi Dōngpō xiānshēng shī 增刊校正王狀元集註分類東坡先生詩

Augmented and Collated, Top-Graduate Wáng’s Combined Commentary, Classified Poems of Master Dōng-pō by 蘇軾 (撰), 王十朋 (注), 傅藻 (撰紀年錄)

About the work

The Zēngkān jiàozhèng Wáng zhuàngyuán jízhù fēnlèi Dōngpō xiānshēng shī 增刊校正王狀元集註分類東坡先生詩 is the SBCK reprint of a Sòng Jiànyáng (Fújiàn) booksellers’ classified-and-annotated edition of Sū Shì 蘇軾 蘇軾’s poetry, in 25 juǎn. The title’s “Wáng zhuàngyuán” is Wáng Shípéng 王十朋 王十朋 (the Shàoxīng 27 / 1157 zhuàngyuán, top-graduate); the jízhù fēnlèi signals the same bǎijiā-style classified-annotation as the parallel Sìkù recension KR4d0077 but in a different (compressed: 25 juǎn vs. 32) edition — and crucially with Fù Zǎo 傅藻 傅藻’s Jìnián lù (chronological record of composition) appended. This is the SBCK reprint, not in the Sìkù WYG corpus.

Tiyao

The KRP source is the SBCK reprint, which does not include the Sìkù tíyào. As the Sìkù editors note in the parallel Dōngpō shījí zhù tíyào KR4d0077, the Wáng Shípéng bǎijiā attribution is a shūsì (booksellers’) formulaic forgery — the chronological argument from the Zhào Kuí and the Wáng Shípéng Méixī jí prefaces being decisive. The Fù Zǎo Jìnián lù appended to this recension is, however, an authentic Southern-Sòng biānnián (chronological) work, otherwise sparsely attested.

Abstract

Zēngkān Wáng zhuàngyuán fēnlèi Dōngpō shī is a Sòng booksellers’ commercial edition of the Wáng Shípéng bǎijiā annotated Sūshī, in compressed 25-juǎn format with Fù Zǎo’s Jìnián lù appended at the back. It is the SBCK-reprinted parallel of the Sìkù-cataloged Dōngpō shījí zhù KR4d0077 (in 32 juǎn) — both descending from the same zēngbǔ (augmentation-and-supplementation) tradition. Bibliographically the principal interest is: (1) the SBCK preserved an earlier (and more compressed) recension than the Sìkù base, useful for collation; (2) the Fù Zǎo Jìnián lù — absent from the Sìkù recension — is a significant Southern-Sòng biānnián document on Sū’s compositional chronology, one of the earliest such systematic accounts. The compressed 25-juǎn organization (vs. the Sìkù 32-juǎn) suggests an intermediate state in the recensional history. Dating bracket: late Sòng (Fù Zǎo fl., post-1200) to the SBCK reprint (1929).

Other points of interest

The Fù Zǎo Jìnián lù, appended only to the SBCK recension and not preserved in the Sìkù base, is one of the few independent witnesses to Sū’s compositional chronology before the major Qing annotators (Shào Chánghéng, Zhā Shènxíng, Wáng Wéngào) systematized the biānnián approach.
