Zhāng yòushǐ wénjí 張右史文集
Collected Works of Right-Historian [Zhāng Lěi] by 張耒 (撰)
About the work
Zhāng yòushǐ wénjí 張右史文集 (named from Zhāng Lěi 張耒 張耒’s Zhùzuò zuǒláng / yòushǐ official titles) is the SBCK reprint of the Sòng Zhèxī cáotái recension in 60 juǎn — one of the four parallel Southern-Sòng recensions of Zhāng Lěi’s collection enumerated by Zhōu Zǐzhī 周紫芝 in his Tàicāng tímǐ jí postscript. The structure: 3 juǎn fù; 2 juǎn yuèfǔ; gǔshī and jìntǐshī through juǎn 28; thereafter biǎozhuàngzházǐzòuyìshūjìxùbēizhìzàn in standard biéjí genre-ordering. The KRP source files include the Sòngshǐ Zhāng Lěi lièzhuàn preserved at the head — providing the complete Sòngshǐ Wényuàn zhuàn version of Zhāng’s biography. The recension is parallel to the Sìkù WYG 50-juǎn Kēshān jí KR4d0089 but bibliographically distinct: Zhōu Zǐzhī’s record clearly distinguishes the 70-juǎn Zhāng yòushǐ jí (probably this recension’s antecedent) from the 100-juǎn Tánjùn xiānshēng jí (the most complete Sòng recension, lost). The 60-juǎn state of the present SBCK base is therefore a zhāicuì (selection-and-gathering) intermediate between the 70-juǎn and the lost 100-juǎn states.
Tiyao
The KRP source is the SBCK reprint, which does not include the Sìkù tíyào. The work was not separately cataloged by the Sìkù — which received the Kēshān jí in 50 juǎn KR4d0089 as the principal Zhāng Lěi biéjí. The Sìkù tíyào of Kēshān jí discusses the parallel recensions including the Zhāng yòushǐ jí explicitly.
Abstract
Zhāng yòushǐ wénjí preserves Zhāng Lěi’s complete extant output in a different recensional state than the Sìkù’s Kēshān jí. The 60-juǎn count places this recension in the upper-middle of the four-recension family enumerated by Zhōu Zǐzhī (10 / 30 / 70 / 100). For ZhāngLěi philological work the SBCK Zhāng yòushǐ wénjí is the principal control on the Sìkù’s 50-juǎn Kēshān jí; the modern Zhōnghuá Zhāng Lěi jí edition (1990) collates both. The collection’s 2 juǎn yuèfǔ — preserving Zhāng’s ZhāngJí-influenced ballads — is one of the more striking Sòng yuèfǔ corpora outside the strict Jiāngxī-school orbit. The Sòngshǐ lièzhuàn preserved at the head supplies the standard biographical frame: Zhāng’s Yuányòu-coalition position, the Sūmén discipleship, the Chóngníng proscription for memorializing Sū Shì’s death (the Yǐngzhōu-period jǔāi xíngfú incident is canonical), the Chénzhōu end-of-career, and the Sòngshǐ notice of his being the last surviving major Sūxué figure. Dating bracket: Zhāng’s death (1114) to the SBCK reprint (1929).

Other points of interest
The four-recension transmission state of Zhāng Lěi’s collection — uniquely well-documented by Zhōu Zǐzhī’s Tàicāng postscript and by Hú Yìnglín’s Bǐcóng — makes this biéjí a textbook case of Sòng biéjí recensional fluidity. The SBCK and Sìkù recensions together preserve, between them, the surviving fraction of the lost 100-juǎn full state — but neither alone is complete.
