Xiàozǐ Zhuàn 孝子傳 (anonymous)
Biographies of Filial Sons anonymous
About the work
Xiàozǐ Zhuàn 孝子傳 is a jíyìběn reconstruction of a lost anonymous collection of biographies of filial sons. The xiàozǐ zhuàn 孝子傳 genre was widely practiced during the Hàn through the Six Dynasties period, and the Suí Shū 隋書 bibliography records multiple collections under this title by different authors. This anonymous compilation likely represents fragments that could not be confidently assigned to any of the known named authors such as 蕭廣濟, 王韶之, or 師覺授.

Abstract
The surviving fragments are few but include characteristic filial piety tropes: children enduring extreme hardship to serve aged parents, miraculous responses to sincere filial grief, and recognition by imperial authorities. The fragments were recovered from Táng and Sòng citations, principally the Tàipíng Yùlǎn 太平御覽. The text was lost after the Táng.
