About the work
A twelve-folio commentary by the court Daoist Huáng Jūzhēn 黃居真 (hào Xūjìng dàshī 虛靖大師). According to the preface, the Queen Mother of the West (Xī wángmǔ 西王母), wishing to help humanity, revealed these instructions to the Yellow Emperor (Huángdì), who shaped them into the present book; yīnfú (“hidden correspondences or contracts”) designates the consensus that characterised the meeting of Xī wángmǔ and Huángdì. The scripture is given in the short version (c. 300 words) without subdivision, and the three subtitles appear as integral parts of the commentary. The commentary provides brief definitions of the terminology.
