About the work

Sān wǔ zhèng yī méng wēi

The “Three-Five Zhèng yī Alliance-Awe” (Sān wǔ Zhèng yī méng wēi 三五正一盟威) is the canonical senior register-tradition of the Celestial Master lineage — a comprehensive system of celestial registers ( 籙) that the ordained Daoist carries as a mandate of his spiritual authority. The yuè lù ritual is the periodic re-examination and renewal of these registers.

Dù Guāngtíng’s editorial work

Dù Guāngtíng was a major codifier of Táng liturgical tradition — see KR5c0114 for his monumental Dàodé jīng guǎng shèng yì, and KR5c0180 for his female-immortal hagiography. The present liturgy is one of several liturgical-ritual manuals he compiled.

Dating. Within Dù Guāngtíng’s mature period (900–933). Dynasty: 唐-五代.
