Péng Zǔ
Péng Zǔ 彭祖 is the Chinese legendary figure of supreme longevity — according to tradition, a Shāng-dynasty figure who lived 800 years through the perfect cultivation of yǎng shēng 養生 practice. His name became a standard allusion for extreme longevity in Chinese literature. The attribution of longevity-manuals to Péng Zǔ is a standard pseudepigraphic convention.
