Gě Hóng’s practical medical handbook — a “ready-to-hand” (zhǒu hòu 肘後, literally “behind the elbow”) collection of emergency prescriptions. One of the foundational texts of Chinese clinical medicine, noted for its empirical observations on diseases including an early description of what may be smallpox. Revised and supplemented by Táo Hóngjǐng in the Liáng. Preserved as DZ 1306 / CT 1306 (正一部).

Dating. Core Eastern-Jìn; revised in NánCháo. Dynasty: 東晉-南朝.
