About the work

A single-fascicle Eastern Hàn 後漢 translation of a discourse using the metaphor of eight kinds of horse to illustrate eight kinds of disciple. Sub-titled “出雜阿含別譯”. The Chinese parallels are T99[924] and T100[149].

Prefaces

The text bears no preface or postface. The only paratext is the canonical translator’s signature at the head: 「後漢西域三藏支曜譯」.

Abstract

T115 was produced during Zhī Yào’s Hàn period (185–220 CE), recorded in the frontmatter. The Indic source is presumed lost.
