About the work
A single-fascicle kēwén 科文 (topical-outline) accompanying Lái Zhōu’s eleven-fascicle [[KR6b0011|Qiǎnzhù 淺註 (X367)]] commentary on T159. The kēwén genre is the standard East-Asian Buddhist diagrammatic-tabular outline of a sūtra’s structure: each section, sub-section, and clause is labelled with a tree-form numbering (○九, 二, 三 …), giving a complete topical map of the sūtra organised hierarchically. The kēwén is normally read alongside the line-by-line commentary, whose section-divisions correspond to the kēwén’s nodes.
Prefaces
The fascicle bears no separate preface; the author and commitment-of-method are inherited from the companion Xuánshì KR6b0009 and Qiǎnzhù KR6b0011. The catalog meta does not name an author for KR6b0010 explicitly, but the work is universally treated as part of Lái Zhōu’s commentarial set on T159 and is signed in the canonical apparatus accordingly.
Abstract
The Kēwén gives the explicit topical-outline structure that the line-by-line Qiǎnzhù assumes; it is the navigational armature of the commentary. The outline divides the sūtra into its xù 序 / zhèng 正 / liútōng 流通 sections in the standard Chinese Buddhist exegetical scheme, then sub-divides each chapter and verse-paragraph into its constituent topical units. This work is therefore not exegetical in its own right but is the indispensable companion-text by which the Qiǎnzhù’s commentarial divisions are read.
