About the work
A single-juan early-Míng Buddhist co-annotated commentary on the Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā-sūtra, by Zōnglè 宗泐 (1318–1391) and Rúqǐ 如玘 (the second character is a rare variant of qǐ, sometimes given as 如𥥆). Both were principal early-Míng monastic figures associated with the Hóngwǔ 洪武 (Tàizǔ Zhū Yuánzhāng’s) imperial Buddhist establishment. Preserved at T33 no. 1703. notBefore = 1368 (the Míng founding); notAfter = 1391 (Zōnglè’s death).
Abstract
Authorship: by Zōnglè 宗泐 (1318–1391) and Rúqǐ 如玘 (lifedates not preserved). Zōnglè was a principal early-Míng court monk under Tàizǔ — leading the imperial-court Buddhist scholarly establishment in Nánjīng. The work is one of his canonical-commentary outputs for the early-Míng imperial Buddhist program.
