Jīngāng jīng zhùjiǎng 金剛經註講
The Diamond Sūtra: Annotated Discourse by 行敏 Xíngmǐn (述)
About the work
A two-juan early-Qīng Vajracchedikā commentary by Duànméi Xíngmǐn 斷眉行敏, sister volume to KR6c0089 Jīngāng jīng rúshì jīngyì. The catalog credit-line shù 述 (“expounded”) and the title-formula zhùjiǎng (“annotation-and-discourse”) identify the genre: a verse-by-verse commentary in the discoursive jiǎng (lecture-like) register, more expansive than KR6c0089’s structural reading. Together the two works form Xíngmǐn’s coordinated Vajracchedikā pair — rúshì jīngyì as structural / hermeneutic, zhùjiǎng as expository / discoursive. Preserved as X25 no. 502. notBefore / notAfter = 1660 / 1700 (same window as the sister volume). Catalog dynasty 清.
Abstract
The text opens with a particularly clean canonical opening: jīngāng shì jīn zhōng zhī jīngjiān zhě (“vajra is the essence-firmness of metal”); bānruò zhě fányǔ, huá yán zhìhuì (“prajñā is Sanskrit, in Chinese ‘wisdom’”); bōluómì zhě, dào bǐ’àn (“pāramitā: reaching the other shore”). Then a substantial systematic exposition of the six pāramitās as a coordinated path: yī bùshī, dù qiāntān; èr chíjiè, dù yínxié; sān rěnrǔ, dù chēnnù; sì jīngjìn, dù xiètuì; wǔ chándìng, dù sànluàn; liù zhìhuì, dù yúchī — prajñā identified as that which néng shēng bāwàn sìqiān zhìhuì (“can give rise to the 84,000 wisdoms”) and so subsumes the other five pāramitās. The body proceeds verse-by-verse through the 鳩摩羅什 Kumārajīva Vajracchedikā with annotated jiǎng exposition; the discoursive register and the systematic doctrinal anchoring (Vajracchedikā read as the prajñā moment of the six-pāramitā path) make this a useful Línjì pedagogical jiǎng version of the sūtra.
