A single-juan Southern-Sòng commentary on Zhànrán’s Jīngāngbēi (KR6d0175, T1932) by Bóting Shànyuè 柏庭善月 of Sìmíng. Body attribution: Sìmíng shāmén Shànyuè shù 四明沙門 善月 述. Companion to Shànyuè’s other Lotus-tradition productions (KR6d0021, KR6d0064).
Abstract
Shànyuè’s Yìjiě belongs to the substantial Southern-Sòng shānjiā commentarial tradition on Zhànrán’s Jīngāngbēi, providing the orthodox shānjiā interpretation of the doctrine of the buddha-nature of insentient beings against the shānwài alternative interpretation preserved in Zhìyuán’s Xiǎnxìng lù (KR6d0179).
The composition is bracketed within Shànyuè’s productive period at the Yánqìngsì 延慶寺 in Sìmíng, c. 1180–1240.
