A single-juan Northern-Sòng treatise by Sìmíng Zhīlǐ 四明知禮 (960–1028) on the essential principles of repentance practice. Preserved in the Northern Yongle Edition of the Canon as L167n1573, the work belongs to Zhīlǐ’s broader liturgical-doctrinal corpus alongside his repentance liturgies (KR6d0196, KR6d0200).
Abstract
Zhīlǐ’s Yàozhǐ provides the doctrinal-theoretical framework underlying his various repentance liturgies, articulating the shānjiā tradition’s distinctive understanding of the relationship between repentance practice (xiūchàn 修懺) and the broader Tiāntái meditative-doctrinal apparatus.
The composition is bracketed within Zhīlǐ’s mature productive period c. 996–1028.
